Buses and roads

Bus and road users may be affected by the following changes this weekend. We expect to run a good service, but buses may be delayed, diverted or stop short of their normal destination.

Regent Street - Until 16:00 today, Thursday 14 November, Regent Street will be restricted to one lane in both directions between Vigo Street and Heddon Street. From 16:00 until 22:00 tonight, Regent Street will be closed between Oxford Circus and Piccadilly Circus. From 22:00 until 23:00 tonight, New Burlington Street will be closed. This is due to the Christmas lights switch on.

Wembley Stadium - From 18:45 until 22:45 tonight, Thursday 14 November, Wembley Stadium will be hosting the European Championships qualifier football match between England and Montenegro, with kick off at 19:45. Large crowds and increased traffic levels are expected in the Wembley area before and after the game. Roads likely to be affected are the A406, A1, A40, Harrow Road, Wembley High Road and roads around the stadium.

A406 near Tottenham - From 22:00 tomorrow, Friday 15, until 05:00 on Monday 18 November, the A406 will be closed westbound near Tottenham at the Angel Road flyover, with one lane closure eastbound. From 22:00 on Friday 22 until 05:00 on Monday 25 November, the A406 will be closed eastbound at the Angel Road flyover, with one lane closure westbound. This is for joint replacement and resurfacing works.

Using another route, such as the M25, may mean a quicker journey for trips across London. Visit our A406 travel advice page for updates.

Gracechurch Street - From 07:30 on Saturday 16 until 16:00 on Sunday 17 November, Gracechurch Street will have a single lane closure northbound. This is due to Thames Water works. This closure will happen at the same times the following weekend.

Twickenham Rugby Stadium – From 13:30 until 17:00 on Saturday 16 November, large crowds and increased traffic levels are expected in the Twickenham area for the rugby match between Barbarians and Fiji, with kick off at 14:30. Roads likely to be affected are the A316 Chertsey Road, and all roads leading to Twickenham Stadium and around the stadium. London Road, Whitton Road and Rugby Road will be closed before and after the game to help with crowd control. Diversions will be implemented in the Twickenham area.

Fulham - From 05:30 until 21:00 on Sunday 17 November, there will be various road closures in place throughout the Fulham area. This is due to a marathon.

A200 near Deptford Church Street - From 20 November, works will begin at the junction of the A200 Creek Road and Deptford Church Street for the next stage of Cycleway 4. Expect delays while travelling on the A200 Creek Road, Tooley Street and Jamaica Road, and when approaching Rotherhithe roundabout from the A101 Rotherhithe Tunnel and from the A200 Lower Road. Please plan ahead and leave more time for your journey. If possible, consider other routes for journeys across London. Visit our Cycleway 4 travel advice page for updates.

Check whether your bus is affected.
