Strawberry Hill House & Garden - Lockdown Letters to Horace Opens!

Lockdown Letters to Horace Opens

6 December 2020 – 28 January 2021

‘You will do me the justice to own that I had always rather
have seen your writing than have shown you mine’

Horace Walpole To Thomas Gray, February 1768

We are delighted to announce that the House is Now Open and as part of the general ticket admission, you can experience our new exhibition Lockdown Letters to Horace,
curated by local artists Charmaine Stimson, Judith North and Kate Proudman.

‘Lockdown Letters to Horace: An Art Installation’ was curated in response to over 250 letters received from the local community, as part of our ‘Write to Horace’ project. Visitors will now have the opportunity to reflect on the letters through a multimedia installation which spans the house.

We are delighted that Strawberry Hill House supporter Richard E. Grant will introduce just some of our letter writers in a special short film which will Premier on our YouTube channel and Facebook page tomorrow evening at 6pm - so do tune in!

After visiting the House and viewing our installation please do pop into our Shop, where we welcome a new visiting artist and a range of inspirational Christmas gifts including 'Strawberry Hill House' Christmas cards to purchase.

Online we welcome back Floral Artists Leigh Chappell and Jane Ford this Saturday 13th December, who will be running their fantastic Wreath Making Workshop this year.

As we look ahead to 2021 we once again join the Thames Luminaries collective for their new online lecture series which starts in January. More details can be found below.

Thank you for your ongoing support,
