Love among the dinosaurs: Celebrate Valentine's Day with a difference at the Natural History Museum

Birds do it, bees do, even educated fleas do it… and you’ll be able to learn a little bit more about ‘it’ and the animal kingdom at a unique after-hours event at the Natural History Museum this Valentine’s Day.

The South Kensington museum is open for two adults-only evenings on Feb 12 and 14, inviting you and your date (or fully-platonic buddy) for a talk on animal courtship and copulation, courtesy of the Natural History Museum’s resident experts. Expect the low-down on come-hither choreography and other mysterious practices – like shedding all the hair from your head to attract a mate.

And that’s not all that’s on offer. Help yourself to a complimentary wine, beer or soft drink on arrival and make time in your visit for a salsa class, a drawing workshop with a difference and the LGBTQ+ trail. Or, simply enjoy exploring the museum and its treasures without the usual crowds. After all, how often do you get to see a harpist playing alongside a stegosaurus?

You’ll also get free entry to the stunning Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition and be able to visit the Anning Rooms lounge and restaurant (normally only open to members and patrons) for cocktails with a view. Just try not to make a joke about tyrannosaurus sex, ok?
