Celebrate the Platinum Jubilee with us

The weekend marked the anniversary of The Queen's accession to the throne - and the start of the special Platinum Jubilee year of celebrations. Her Majesty is the first British monarch to reign for 70 years. Read on to find out more about some the exciting events we have planned this year, and we look forward to welcoming you to celebrate with us at the royal residences during the Jubilee year. Between 1891 and 1900 numerous relations and friends signed the fan, presumably at Victoria's request. On our website the signatures for each leaf are identified and the person's relationship to Queen Victoria explained. IDENTIFY THE SIGNATURES Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee fan Recently The Queen viewed a selection of objects used to commemorate previous Jubilees, including this fan, given to Queen Victoria by the Prince and Princess of Wales (the future King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra) in 1887, the year of the Victoria's Golden Jubilee.

EXHIBITION Celebrating The Queen's accession Buckingham Palace 22 July - 2 October This summer we’ll be celebrating The Queen's 70-year reign with a special exhibition at Buckingham Palace which focuses on the accession. On display will be examples from the remarkable series of portraits taken by Dorothy Wilding, that formed the basis of The Queen's image on stamps and in British embassies across the world until 1971.  PLAN A VISIT THIS SUMMER

EXHIBITION New London exhibition coming soon The Queen's Gallery, London Opens 8 April This samurai armour was a gift to James I in 1613. The helmet's raised area at the back may have been specially shaped to accommodate the samurai hairstyle with the hair oiled and tied back in a queue.  See the armour up close in our new exhibition Japan: Courts & Culture and explore 350 years of courtly exchange that followed. SPECIAL VISIT Buckingham Palace Garden Tours Buckingham Palace selected dates in March The last few tickets are still available for Buckingham Palace Garden Guided Tours this spring - a great gift for Valentine's day! Throughout the season daffodils, primroses and bluebells will emerge in the meadows and the camellias, magnolias and azaleas around the garden will bloom. BOOK YOUR PLACE
