Transport for London - Weekend travel information - 4-5 February 2017

Weekly travel update to help you get around London this weekend, 4-5 February. Most of the network will be open with services running as normal, but please check if any of the following affect you. 

Tube strike
Station staff who are RMT union members are currently planning strikes. If the strikes go ahead, there will be a significant impact on Tube journeys from 18:00 Sunday 5 February until around 11:00 Wednesday 8 February. London Underground


We are undertaking a comprehensive improvement programme across London’s transport network, including the modernisation of the Tube.


Circle line
There will be no service between Aldgate and Edgware Road, via Victoria, while we test new signalling and replace drainage at Aldgate.

District line
Trains will not run between Embankment and West Ham. This is to allow us to test new signalling, replace drainage at Aldgate, carry out station improvement work at Stepney Green as well as Crossrail construction work at Whitechapel.

Hammersmith & City line
Trains will not run between Liverpool Street and Barking. This is to allow us to test new signalling, replace drainage at Aldgate, carry out station improvement work at Stepney Green as well as Crossrail construction work at Whitechapel.

Metropolitan line
There will be no service between Aldgate and Wembley Park while we test new signalling and replace drainage at Aldgate as well as track and drainage replacement work between Baker Street and Finchley Road.




London Overground


All weekend there will be no service between the following stations:
Romford and Upminster, due to Crossrail construction work and Network Rail track work
Highbury & Islington and Shadwell, due to Crossrail construction work
On Saturday there will be no service between Surrey Quays and New Cross, due to Crossrail construction work.
On Sunday there will be no service between the following stations:
Clapham Junction and Kensington (Olympia) due to Earls Court development work
Kilburn High Road and Euston from 11:30 until 21:15, for Network Rail work
Surrey Quays and Clapham Junction, for Network Rail track work
From Monday to Thursday, there will be no service between Hackney Downs and Chingford after 22:30, due to Network Rail track work. 

There is no service between Gospel Oak and Barking until later this month. This is while Network Rail carry out major works to enable new, longer trains to run from 2018. For more information, please click here

TfL Rail


Trains will not run on the entire line. This is while Network Rail carry out track and station improvements as part of their Railway Upgrade Plan, as well as Crossrail construction work. 

There is no service between Brentwood and Shenfield until late May. This is while Network Rail carry out major work at Shenfield to upgrade tracks, signalling and overhead lines.





DLR


From tomorrow, Friday, until December, Custom House station will be closed and trains will not stop. This is while we redevelop the station to increase capacity and reduce overcrowding, and improve walking routes between platforms, the local area and Elizabeth line services from December 2018.

Buses


Bus users may be affected by the following this weekend. While we will try to maintain a good service, buses may be delayed or stop short of their normal destination: 

Central London - From 08:00 on Saturday until 16:00 on Sunday, Shaftesbury Avenue will be closed at the junction of Wardour Street. Temporary traffic lights will be in place. This is for utility works. 

Central London - From 15:00 until 17:00 on Saturday, Victoria Street will be closed between Artillery Row and Parliament Square. Broad Sanctuary will also be closed. This is for an event. 

Central London - From 11:00 until 17:00 on Saturday, roads will be closed including Upper Grosvenor Street, Park Lane, Hyde Park Corner, Piccadilly, St James's Street, Pall Mall, Pall Mall East and Trafalgar Square. This is for a march. 

Twickenham - From 14:00 until 22:30 on Saturday, roads in the area will be busier than usual, including A316 Chertsey Road, all roads leading to Twickenham station, and around the stadium. This is for an event. London Road, Whitton Road and Rugby Road will be closed before and after the event. 

Central London - On Sunday, some roads will be closed until 16:30 for an event. These include Pall Mall East from 02:30, Pall Mall, Whitehall, Constitution Hill, Horse Guards Road, Trafalgar Square, and Strand from 05:00, Chancery Lane, New Fetter Lane, High Holborn and Fleet Street westbound, Aldwych, Kingsway, and various roads in the City of London from 08:00. Advance notice: Hammersmith Bridge - From 07:00 Saturday 11 until 05:00 Monday 20 February, Hammersmith Bridge will be closed for essential maintenance work. Traffic will be diverted across Putney and Chiswick Bridges. For full details, please visit tfl.gov.uk/hammersmith-bridge

Roads


Road users may be affected by the following this weekend:
