The Girl from 10th Avenue (1935) stars Bette Davis.
Driven to drink over losing his girlfriend, Valentine, to a rich man, Geoff Sherwood creates a drunken disturbance outside the church at Valentine’s wedding. When shop girl Miriam Brady rescues him, Geoff convinces her to join him drinking, and the next morning they wake up married. The couple begin to find happiness when an unhappy Valentine confronts Miriam. More details here.

Kennington Bioscope presents Underworld (1927), Josef von Sternberg’s crime drama starring George Bancroft, Evelyn Brent and Clive Brook. This screening will be introduced by Kevin Brownlow, and will have a live piano accompaniment.
Gangster ‘Bull’ Weed (Bancroft) befriends and rehabilitates alcoholic ex-lawyer ‘Rolls Royce’ Wensel (Brook), ‘Bull’ using his friend’s inside knowledge to further his nefarious schemes, but things become complicated when Wensel falls for Weed’s moll ‘Feathers’ McCoy (Brent).

South Social are screening Chilean director Marcela Said's latest film, Los Perros(2017), which was presented at this year's Cannes Film festival. A blasting study of the past Chilean dictatorship through the eyes of a high-octane female protagonist. Followed by a true experience of Chilean music and regional cuisine. All hail Chile!

A day of film screenings, readings, and thought provoking discussion looking at how far we have come as a community and how technology is shaping the future.
The afternoon programme features a screening of The L-Shaped Room(1962), introduced by the book's author Lynne Reid Banks. The evening session will include a series of shorts on LGBT subjects. More details here.
