From May 20th, award-winning Park Room at JW Marriott Grosvenor House London will be serving a resplendent Platinum Jubilee Afternoon Tea to mark the Queen’s historic 70th anniversary on the throne. In celebration of this momentous milestone, Grosvenor House Executive Chef Nigel Boschetti and Head Pastry Chef Anthony Hurst have worked with their team of pâtissiers to create an unforgettable afternoon tea experience inspired by Elizabeth II's extraordinary life and reign. Set against the idyllic backdrop of Hyde Park, in the heart of Park Lane, the elegant surroundings of The Park Room are reminiscent of a majestic stately home. With the stage set and fit for royalty, guests are welcomed to begin their convivial Platinum Jubilee tea experience with a palate cleansing gin & dubonnet granita – a small nod to the Queen’s favourite cocktail- followed by a sumptuous three-tiered afternoon tea service. Five limited-edition pastries have been especially crafted in honor of this historic occasion and include a mouth-watering Valrhona Chocolate Biscuit Cake- Her Majesty’s tea cake of choice- a lip-smacking Platinum Lemon Posset with an elegant platinum leaf atop a buttery shortbread biscuit- a Buckingham Palace banqueting menu staple- and our take on the Queen’s 9ft tall, 500lb wedding cake with a sumptuous Royal Class Fruit Cake which traditionally saw special ingredients flown in for its preparation from the four corners of the globe. Also comprising the sweet selection are a regal Raspberry Syllabub celebration cake made using the finest English raspberries and the Great Room Ice Sphere, an indulgent almond, chocolate and raspberry delight that commemorates the Great Room here at Grosvenor House where a young Princess Elizabeth learned to ice skate in 1933. Savouries include a variety of delicate finger sandwiches ranging from Coronation chicken with apricots and mango chutney to Aberdeen Angus roast beef with horseradish as well as Brown & Forrest smoked salmon open sandwiches. Freshly baked scones are served alongside Devonshire clotted cream and an assortment of distinctive homemade preserves. Guests can choose from an extensive selection of fine teas, including Grosvenor House’s specially created Platinum Jubilee Tea blend, which is available exclusively for guests of The Park Room, or can indulge in a glass of crisp champagne from our signature champagne trolley with their tea. A hand-illustrated celebration menu will be offered to guests as a keepsake, created especially for Grosvenor House by US based illustrator Michael MacVean; the perfect memento of an exquisite, quintessentially British afternoon.
