Transport for London - Weekend travel advice

 

Weekend travel information If you are out and about over the weekend there are lots of public transport options. Here are the details of planned works to help you plan your journey.  We strongly encourage customers to wear face coverings on our services and stations unless exempt. Our enhanced cleaning regime continues to make the network cleaner than ever, with more than 1,100 hand sanitiser dispensers installed across the network and at least 200 UV light devices continually sanitising escalator handrails. The information in this email could possibly change, so please check before you travel or use the TfL Go app to plan your journey.

London Underground

Tube strikes — until Sunday 19 June There is planned strike action every Friday and Saturday night on the Central and Victoria lines between 20:30 and 04:29 the following morning until Sunday 19 June. Normal services are expected on the Victoria line, while we expect the Central line to run a regular service through central London, with at least two trains per hour. District line Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 May No service between Tower Hill and Upminster Rail replacement buses will run between Tower Hill and Dagenham East, via Canning Town. For stations between Dagenham East and Upminster, use local buses or TfL Rail to/from Romford station.

Hammersmith & City line Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 May No service on the entire line Use alternative Tube, local or replacement bus services.

Northern line Until mid-May 2022 No service between Kennington and Moorgate During this time, many stations and lines in central London will be much busier and you may have to make changes to the way you travel. Visit our website for more information.

Piccadilly line Until spring 2022 Piccadilly trains will not stop at South Kensington The Circle and District lines will continue to stop and the station will remain open.  Find out more  information and travel advice.

London Overground

Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 May No service between Surrey Quays and Clapham Junction A rail replacement bus service will run. Sunday 8 May No service between Highbury & Islington and Dalston Junction (including Saturday night into Sunday morning Night Overground service) A replacement bus service will run. Use Night Bus N277 during Night Overground hours. No service between Gospel Oak and Stratford A rail replacement bus service will run. No service between Clapham Junction and Willesden Junction until 09:30 Use local bus services. Monday 9 until Thursday 12 May No westbound service between Camden Road and Willesden Junction after 23:45 each night Use alternative Tube, London Overground services or local bus routes.  Tuesday 10 until Friday 13 May No southbound service between Willesden Junction and Shepherd’s Bush until 06:15 each morning Use local bus routes 220 or 228.

TfL Rail

Saturday 7 May Reduced service between Paddington and Heathrow Terminals 2&3 after 23:15 Trains will not stop at Acton Main Line, Hanwell and West Ealing. Sunday 8 May No TfL Rail, Heathrow Express or Great Western Railway services between Paddington and Heathrow T5 until 06:30, and between Paddington and Ealing Broadway until 08:00 Use alternative Tube services or local bus routes.

Buses and roads

Bus journeys will be affected by the following changes this weekend. We expect to run a good service, but buses may be delayed, diverted or stop short of their normal destination.

Saturday 7 May Trafalgar Square The Eid Festival will be taking place at Trafalgar Square from 12:00 to 18:00. Increased traffic and large crowds are expected. Until Friday 6 May Hammersmith bus station, part closure Part of the Hammersmith bus station will be closed until 18:00 on Friday 6 May. This is because of improvement works around Hammersmith Gyratory. Buses will be affected with some routes not stopping in the lower bus station (Butterwick). Some routes will be diverted or call at different stops. Plan ahead and leave more time for your journey.  Until summer 2022 A41 Edgware Way Until summer 2022, we will be undertaking repair works on the A41 Edgware Way bridge over the M1, next to Apex Corner. This will involve closures in alternating directions on the A41 and lane closures on the M1. Buses in the area will be affected with delays, bus stop closures and some routes on diversion. Plan ahead and leave more time for your journey. Visit our website for more information. Until June 2022 A40 Westway Until June 2022, weekend closures of the A40 Westway will change to affect westbound traffic while we carry out essential maintenance work.
