Weekend travel information

If you are out and about over the weekend, there are lots of public transport options. 

You can also find details of our latest safer travel guidance on our website.

The information in this email could possibly change, so please check before you travel or use the TfL Go app to plan your journey. 
 

London Underground

 

Night Tube strikes — until Sunday 4 December

The planned strike action on Friday and Saturday nights on the Central, Jubilee and Victoria lines between 20:30 and 04:29 the following morning, has been extended until Sunday 4 December and will now also impact the Northern line.

While Night Tube services are still running regularly, if you are using these lines on a Friday or Saturday between 19:00 and 06:00 the next morning, you should check before you travel.

Jubilee line

Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 July

No service between Waterloo and Stanmore

Use alternative Tube services or rail replacement buses. Bus route N98 will run from/to Oxford Circus/Tottenham Court Road during the night.

     

Metropolitan line

Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 July

No service between Aldgate and Harrow-on-the-Hill

Use alternative Tube, Chiltern Rail services or rail replacement buses.

London Overground

Sunday 10 July

No service between Liverpool Street and Chingford until 08:45

Use alternative Tube, rail, or local bus services.

No service between Surrey Quays and Clapham Junction

Use the rail replacement bus service.

No service between Gospel Oak and Barking

Use alternative Tube, local or rail replacement bus services. 

No service between Hackney Downs and Enfield Town/Cheshunt

Use alternative Tube, Greater Anglia, local or rail replacement bus services. 

No service between Willesden Junction and Richmond

Use alternative Tube or rail replacement bus services.

Monday 11 to Thursday 14 July

No southbound service between Sydenham and West Croydon after 23:30 each night

Use local buses, trams, Southern rail or the rail replacement bus service.

No service between Hackney Downs and Enfield Town after 22:45 each night

Use alternative Tube services, local buses or the rail replacement bus service.

Elizabeth line

Until late 2022

There will be no service on Sundays between Paddington and Abbey Wood until late 2022.

DLR

Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 July

No service between Bank/Tower Gateway and Canning Town/Canary Wharf and between Stratford and Canary Wharf (via All Saints)

A rail replacement bus service will run.

London Trams 

Wednesday 13 and Thursday 14 July

Tram strike

Tram drivers who are members of the ASLEF union in Trams Operations Ltd are expected to strike on Wednesday 13 and Thursday 14 July 2022.We expect a limited service to operate between East Croydon and Wimbledon until 21:00 each day.No service is expected between East Croydon and Beckenham Junction, Elmers End and New Addington, except the first two services from New Addington which depart at 04:56 and 05:11.Any Tram services that do run are unlikely to operate after 21:00, so please complete your journey by 20:00.Buses in Croydon, Wimbledon, Beckenham and Addington will be busier than normal as customers seek alternative routes.

Bus journeys will be affected by the following changes this weekend. We expect to run a good service, but buses may be delayed, diverted or stop short of their normal destination.

 

Friday 8 July

Brentford Stadium, UEFA Women’s Euros

The football match between Germany vs Denmark will take place at Brentford Stadium. Increased traffic and large crowds are expected.

Friday 8 until Sunday 10 July

Hyde Park, BST Festival

Hyde Park will be hosting the BST Festival from 14:00 until 23:00, with Pearl Jam headlining on Friday and Saturday, and Duran Duran playing on Sunday. From approximately 21:45, Park Lane will be closed in both directions to allow entrance and exit to/from the event. Increased traffic and large crowds are expected.

Crystal Palace Park, Wireless Festival

The Wireless Festival will take place from 11:00 to 21:30 in Crystal Palace Park. Anerley Hill, between Church Road, Crystal Palace Parade and Westow Hill, will be closed for entrance and exit to/from the concert. Increased traffic and large crowds are expected.

Saturday 9 July

Acton Park, Acton Carnival

There will be a parade from Woodland Park to Acton Park for the Acton Carnival. Roads will be closed to host the parade.

Camden, Somerstown Festival

There will be road closures in the Camden area of Charlton Street, Phoenix Road and Ossulston Street to host the event.

Sunday 10 July

ASICS London 10k run

The event will take place with road closures in stages from Victoria Street in the south, Aldwych in the east, Regent Street in the north and Piccadilly in the west to host the event. From 05:00, Piccadilly will be closed in both directions between Hyde Park Corner and Piccadilly Circus. From 06:00, Whitehall will be closed between Trafalgar Square and Parliament Square. All remaining closures will be put in place at 07:00, and removed by 15:00. In addition, Waterloo Place will be closed both Saturday and Sunday for the event. 

Until Wednesday 13 July

A20 Sidcup Road and Sidcup Bypass overnight closures

The A20 Sidcup Road and Sidcup Bypass will be closed between 22:00 and 05:00 Mondays to Fridays. This is while we carry out essential maintenance works including repairs to the road, gully cleaning, lighting maintenance and barrier repairs.

Work will be done in sections to reduce impact, and signed diversion routes will be in place. Visit our website for live road travel updates.

Until mid-July

A41 Edgware Way

Until mid-July, we will be undertaking repair works on the A41 Edgware Way bridge over the M1, next to Apex Corner.

This will involve closures in alternating directions on the A41 and lane closures on the M1. Buses in the area will be affected with delays, bus stop closures and some routes on diversion. Plan ahead and leave more time for your journey.

Until mid-August

Gas mains replacement works

Until mid-August, there will only be one lane open in each direction on Commercial Road between Henriques Street and Back Church Lane. There will also be no access to Christian Street or Batty Street from Commercial Road; residents can gain access from Fairclough Street. This is while Cadent Gas carries out essential gas mains replacement work.

Delays are expected and you are advised to plan ahead, leave more time for your journey and use alternative routes where possible. Please check status updates for the latest information on how roads are operating in your area.
