Thames Islands: Estuary Hopes, Upstream Dreams Thu 1 - Fri 30 Sep | Watermans Arts Centre In film and photos Jonathan Goldberg records his encounters along the River Thames islands: enchanted wildlife havens upstream, to the industrial marshlands of Essex. Find out more Hands on History in Watermen's Hall | Sat 2 & Sun 3 Sep Step into the historic Watermen’s Hall and discover the world of the famous Thames Watermen & Lightermen through the artefacts recovered by mudlarks. On the Saturday evening there will be a talk by author Malcolm Russell focusing on London's vices via mudlarking including opium, gambling and more. There will be other Hands on History exhibitions throughout September at National Maritime Museum, St. Paul's Cathedral, and the Roman Amphitheatre below Guildhall Art Gallery.  Find out more London's Lost Village: Whitebait Suppers - A Big Victorian Night Out | Wed 31 August Join us at the iconic Trafalgar Tavern for three course Victorian feast, traditionally starting with Whitebat, as historians Vera Rule and Horatio Blood tell us a tale of foodie passions and other sins in 19th century high society. Each soundscape evolved from field recordings made alongside the river, in different places, times, and conditions. Find out more Sea Kayak Taster Sessions | Brentford Boating Arches | Sat 3 Sep London's only dedicated sea kayaking club CKC are running some taster sessions for newcomers to get a taste for kayaking on the River Thames.
