Here is our weekly travel update to help you get around London this weekend, 23 and 24 March, and the following week.
Most of the network will be open with services running as normal so you’ll be able to get wherever you need to go, but please check if any of the following affect you. |

| Tottenham Hotspur Stadium |

On Sunday 24 March at 15:00, a test event is taking place at the new Tottenham Hotspur stadium.
Victoria line, London Overground, rail and bus services in the area are expected to be very busy before and after the event. Northbound London Overground services prior to the event are expected to be full upon arrival at Seven Sisters station between 12:00 and 14:00. Customers looking to board these services may be asked to exit the station and use an alternative entrance via Birstall Road to prevent overcrowding.
If you are travelling to the match there is a signed walking route to the stadium from Seven Sisters, Tottenham Hale and White Hart Lane stations. national Rail services serving Northumberland Park station will be closed due to planned engineering work.
All traffic, including bus routes 149, 192, 259, 318, 341, 349 and W3 will be diverted from Tottenham High Road as early as 13:30 and as late as 18:15.
After the event, managed queuing systems will be in place to re-enter local stations. During this time, bus stop D on Tottenham High Road outside Seven Sisters station will be suspended. Customers should use bus stop B for the 259 and 279 or bus stop C for all other routes.

Due to a march on Saturday 23 March, stations in and around central London will be extremely busy and may become exit or interchange only to help manage the crowds safely. Stations include Green Park, Marble Arch, Bond Street, Hyde Park Corner, Oxford Circus, Tottenham Court Road, Leicester Square, Charing Cross, Westminster, Waterloo, St James’s Park, Vauxhall and Victoria.
Please avoid these stations where possible. The Jubilee, Central and Piccadilly lines are also expected to be much busier – please allow extra time for your journey.

There will be a reduced service from Gospel Oak to Barking until further notice. This is due to a lack of available trains. On Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 March, trains will run every 30 minutes.
On Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 March, there will be no service between Romford and Upminster. This is due to Crossrail construction work. Use local bus routes 165, 248 or 370.
On Sunday 24 March, there will be no service between Euston and Kilburn High Road until 12:15 and after 20:30. This is due to Network Rail track work and work to enable High Speed Two. Use the Tube or local buses.

On Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 March, there will be no service between Stratford and Canary Wharf. This is due to track maintenance. Use alternative DLR, Tube and local bus routes.

On Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 March, there will be no service between Sandilands and Birkbeck / Elmers End. This is due to ballast and track replacement work. Tram replacement buses will run between East Croydon and Birkbeck / Elmers End.

To help improve air quality, an Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) will be in place in central London from 8 April 2019, replacing the T-charge. Most vehicles will need to meet new, tighter exhaust emission standards (ULEZ standards) or pay a daily charge to travel within the area of the ULEZ.
The daily charge runs from midnight to midnight, seven days a week, every day of the year, within the same area as the current Congestion Charging Zone. Your vehicle may not meet the ULEZ standards even if it meets the current Low Emission Zone standards. The ULEZ charge will be in addition to the weekday Congestion Charge and the London-wide LEZ charge.

Bus and road users may be affected by the following changes this weekend. We expect to run a good service, though buses may be delayed, diverted or stop short of their normal destination.
West End – Until Thursday 11 April, sections of Tottenham Court Road will be reduced to one lane while carriageway resurfacing works are completed. Bus route 144 will be on diversion and route 176 will be restricted at times. These works are to prepare for the switch to two-way traffic on Tottenham Court Road on the Easter bank holiday weekend. Sections of the new southbound lane on Tottenham Court Road will be for buses and cyclists only following the traffic switch. For more information, visit our travel advice page.
Old Street – Until mid-May, work to remove four traffic islands on the approach to the roundabout will take place every night between 20:30 and 05:30. This is in advance of main works to restore two-way traffic to Old Street, which are scheduled to start in late May. Delays are expected on approach to the roundabout.
Gunnersbury Avenue – From 22:00 on Thursday 21 March until Thursday 28 March, the A406 Gunnersbury Avenue will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Park Place Drive and Manor Gardens and from 29 March until 5 May, between Park Place Drive and Power Road. This is while we carry out essential safety improvements. Delays are expected, especially for southbound traffic and you are advised to allow more time for your journey. Wembley Stadium – From 18:00 until 22:00 on Friday 22 March, Wembley Stadium will host the European Qualifying football match England and the Czech Republic, with kick off at 19:45. Large crowds and increased traffic levels are expected in the Wembley area before and after the game. Roads likely to be affected are the A406, A1, A40, Harrow Road, Wembley High Road and roads around the stadium.
Tottenham – From 08:00 until 22:00 on Saturday 23 and from 09:00 until 22:00 on Sunday 24 March, High Road Tottenham southbound will have restrictions in place at the junction of Monument Way. Lane one will be closed on Saturday and lane two will be closed on Sunday. This is due to Thames Water works.
Westminster – Due to a march on Saturday 23 March, road closures will be in place in central London from around 12:00 and are likely to impact more than the immediate closure area. You are advised to avoid driving in central London where possible or allow plenty of time for your journey. Bus services will be affected and will be on diversion to avoid the closures and minimise disruption. To see if your route is affected, check our status updates page.
Central London – From 02:30 until 18:00 on Sunday 24 March, there will be various road closures in the Westminster area due to a half marathon. From 02:30, Pall Mall East will be closed. From 05:00, Pall Mall, Whitehall and Trafalgar Square and its approaches will be closed. From 07:00, there will be various road closures throughout Waterloo, Kingsway, Aldwych, Holborn and the City of London. The race will begin from 09:30 and will finish by 14:48. Waterloo Bridge will be closed. Traffic of a suitable height will still be allowed to use the Strand underpass, except between 08:50 and 11:30.
Marylebone - Between 22:00 and 05:00 on Sunday 24, Wednesday 27 and Thursday 28 March, Marylebone Road will be reduced to one lane in each direction. There will be no access to or from Baker Street to Marylebone Road. This is due to road resurfacing night works.
