Screening of Looking for Charlie (2018) with Q&A
Thursday November 1st @ 7:30pm
Looking for Charlie (2018) is a candid look behind the scenes of the silent era which delves into the ways in which the legends we celebrate – Chaplin, Buster Keaton – are built upon much more complex, much more human stories. It is a film about superstardom and obscurity, the highs and lows of Hollywood, and the thin line between genius and despair.
This film will be presented by its directors, the silent era historians, Darren R. Reid and Brett Sanders with a Q&A session following the film. Tickets £6 - click below to purchase from Billetto or call 020 7840 2200 to purchase direct from the Museum.

Magnificent Obsessions: The Films of Ross Hunter presents
Imitation of Life (1959) Thursday November 8th @ 7:30pm
Imitation of Life (1959) is the last collaboration between producer Ross Hunter and director Douglas Sirk, and Sirk’s final film. A remake of the 1934 Claudette Colbert film of the same name, Sirk spun the story of a down-and-out actress’s ascent to stardom, and turned it into the story of her black maid and daughter who passes for white, stealing the picture entirely from Lana Turner. But she was too covered in diamonds to notice. No amount of frocks can dampen the spectacular climax of the film, an emotional powerhouse that will be felt by anyone who ever had a mother.
Advance tickets are £6 - click below to purchase from Billetto or call 020 7840 2200 to purchase direct from the Museum.
