Here is our weekly travel update to help you get around London this weekend, 13 and 14 October, and the following week.
Most of the network will be open with services running as normal so you’ll be able to get wherever you need to go, but please check if any of the following affect you. | |

On Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 October, there will be no service between Aldgate and Tower Hill. This is due to track improvement work. If you are travelling between the stations, walk between Aldgate and Tower Hill. Check our Walking Tube map - it only takes about 9 minutes. |

On Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 October, there will be no service between Gloucester Road / High Street Kensington and Hammersmith / Wimbledon / Kensington (Olympia). This is due to track improvement work at Earl’s Court. For travel between Gloucester Road and Hammersmith, use the Piccadilly line. For travel between Kensington (Olympia) and Hammersmith, use local bus route 27. For travel between Hammersmith / Earl’s Court and Wimbledon, use the rail replacement or local bus services.
On Sunday 14 October, there will be no service between Turnham Green and Richmond. This is due to track improvement work at Kew Gardens. Use local bus route 391 or the rail replacement bus service to travel between stations.

On Sunday 14 October, there will be no service between South Acton and Richmond. This is due to London Underground track work. Rail replacement buses will run.
From Monday 15 until Thursday 18 October, there will be no service between Romford and Upminster after 20:00. This is due to Network Rail track work. If you are travelling between stations, you can use the 165, 248 or 370 bus routes. Our Hopper fare means you can change buses for free as many times as you need within an hour.

On Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 October, there will be no service between West Ham and Woolwich Arsenal. This is due to track maintenance work. Rail replacement buses will be running. Alternatively, take the Jubilee line to North Greenwich and change to local bus routes 161 or 472, or get the 474 from Canning Town for travel between stations. Additionally, tickets will be accepted on Southeastern Railway between Greenwich station and Woolwich station only. |

Central London - From 10:00 until 19:00 on Saturday 13 October, Whitehall will be closed between Horse Guards Avenue and Parliament Square from 10:00. At 12:00, a large group will form up on Park Lane southbound and at 13:00, it will march to Whitehall via Hyde Park Corner, Piccadilly, St James’s Street, Pall Mall, Cockspur Street and Trafalgar Square. There will be road closures along the route and its approaches.
The following roads may be closed or otherwise affected: Parliament Square and its approaches, Westminster Bridge, Victoria Embankment, Waterloo Bridge, Aldwych, Kingsway, Piccadilly Circus and Regent Street. This is due to a series of marches.
Westminster - From 13:30 until 16:30 on Saturday 13 October, there will be a series of traffic holds along Ambrosden Avenue, Francis Street, Vauxhall Bridge Road, Neathouse Place, Bridge Place, Belgrave Road, Eccleston Street, Belgrave Place, Belgrave Square, Chesham Place, Pont Street, Sloane Street, Brompton Road, Brompton Oratory and their approaches. Westbound lane 1 on Brompton Road will be restricted and there will be a short hold in both directions of the A4. This is due to a procession.
Westminster - From 03:30 until 14:00 on Sunday 14 October, there will be a series of road closures in the Westminster area. From 03:30 all roads within St James’s Park area including Constitution Hill, The Mall and Great George Street will be closed. From 07:00 Whitehall, certain lanes on Aldwych, and Trafalgar Square and its approaches including Pall Mall, The Strand, Charing Cross Road southbound from Cambridge Circus, and Northumberland Avenue northbound, will be closed. From 07:45, Park Lane southbound will be closed from Marble Arch. From 08:00, there will be a contraflow in place at Hyde Park Corner between the eastbound slip road from Knightsbridge and Grosvenor Place. From 08:30, Waterloo Bridge northbound will be closed with vehicles of a suitable height maintained through the Strand underpass. All non-park roads are expected to re-open by 12:30. This is due to the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon.
Shoreditch - From 06:30 until 12:30 on Sunday 14 October, the following roads will be closed: Bridport Place, Shepperton Road, Rotherfield Street, Ecclesbourne Road, Elmore Street, Morton Road, Halliford Street, Downham Road, Southgate Road, Northchurch Road, Crowland Terrace, Englefield Road, Tottenham Road, De Beauvoir Road, Buckingham Road, Stamford Road, Mortimer Road, Hereford Road, Ardleigh Road, Culford Road, Ufton Road, Hertford Road, De Beauvoir Crescent, Whitmore Road, Hoxton Street, Hoxton Square, Coronet Street, Boot Street, Pitifield Street, Crondall Street, Regan Way, Purcell Street, Hyde Road and Penn Street. This is due to the Shoreditch 10k. If you are attending the race, take the Overground to Shoreditch High Street.
Westminster - From 12:00 until 15:00 on Wednesday 17 October, there will be a series of road closures between Waterloo Place and Parliament Square including Pall Mall, Cockspur Street, Trafalgar Square, Whitehall and their approaches. This is due to a march.

Road users may be affected by the following this weekend:
Rotherhithe Tunnel - There are increased restrictions for goods vehicles at Rotherhithe Tunnel. The maximum vehicle height is 2 metres and the weight limit is 2 tonnes. The width restriction is 2 metres (or 6’6”). Drivers of goods vehicles should use Tower Bridge or Blackwall Tunnel, both of which are outside the Congestion Charging zone. A4 Ealing Road to Clayponds Avenue - From 22:00 Friday 12 October until 05:00 Monday 15 October, a section of the A4 will be closed between Ealing Road and Clayponds Avenue. This is due to works being carried out by Highways England underneath the elevated section of the M4.
The works will be ongoing until 15 December 2018 and will involve a series of full and partial closures, including single lane closures during the day and full closures overnight, Monday to Friday. For more information on these, please visit our A4 works page.
