Join the BBC Symphony Orchestra at Maida Vale Studios for a wonderful programme of Czech, Hungarian and Russian music from the early 20th century.
Slovak Conductor Juraj Valčuha makes his debut with the BBC Symphony Orchestra and brings music by Dvořák and Prokofiev. Principal Conductor of the RAI National Symphony Orchestra from 2009-16, he is currently music director of the Teatro di San Carlo, Naples and Principal Guest Conductor of the Konzerthausorchester Berlin. He will be reunited with acclaimed Ukrainian violinist Valeriy Sokolov for Bartók‘s Second Violin Concerto. Written under the threat of Fascism, it’s a passionate national statement, lively with folk rhythms.
