Butterfly House reopens today

Open daily, 10.30am-4pm
We are delighted to announce that the Butterfly House has now reopened. The specially-planted indoor garden has thrived over the summer and is perfect for experiencing hundreds of free-flying butterflies and discovering more about these fascinating creatures.

You must book tickets in advance to visit the Butterfly House (admission fee applies), and a separate ticket is required to visit the Museum (free) and Permian Monsters exhibition (admission fee applies).

Black History Month and Nigeria60

We are hosting a range of displays, events and activities during October to mark Black History Month and the 60th anniversary of Nigerian Independence. 

Influential Nigerians will be discussing culture and heritage in a series of online discussions, a performance by award-winning Nigerian-Romanian pianist Rebeca Omordia will be broadcast as part of our Hear it Live! series, we will open a new photographic exhibition An Ode to Afro-Surrealism, and live storytelling onsite during half-term will celebrate the life and achievements of Mary Seacole.

Falling Birds display

Falling Birds is a captivating new display by UK-based artist Helena Hunter. X-ray photographs and poetic texts highlight extinction and the alarming decline in bird species around the world.

The Horniman Market is open every Sunday for weekly essentials, delicious and direct from independent and local producers.

On Sunday 11 October we will also be hosting @DrBike_lewisham for free bike safety checks, basic adjustments and minor repairs.
