The autumn season has barely begun, but lots of exciting activities have been taking place as part of the Urban Nature Project! From launching our new UK-wide schools programme, Explore: Urban Nature, to working with the Youth Advisory Panel and running Fat Spider Fortnight.
This is the perfect time to be outside, notice the change of the seasons and get a Nature Boost. Why not go one step further and join our Nature Drawing Club or record what you see in your own Digital Nature Journal? |

As the Museum works to champion nature in our towns and cities, we've been hearing from people up and down the country on how they want their own relationship with green spaces to feel. 12 young people from diverse backgrounds have been sharing their thoughts and experiences. |

At the beginning of September, we asked you to find the fattest spider in your house or garden and make an observation by taking a picture on your phone and uploading it using the iNaturalist app. More than 1250 observations were submitted! |

Originally the gardens were an area set aside for future expansion of the Museum building. There was no intention to open them to the public. However, a lack of money resulted in a smaller building than planned and a need to landscape the gardens.

Our plans for the gardens |
As part of the Urban Nature Project, we’re transforming our gardens into a fully accessible green space in the heart of London. They will be somewhere visitors can learn more about the diversity of life on Earth, and our scientists can develop best practices to protect urban nature. They will take you back in time, and help you look to the future. |

Each week we share a prompt to inspire you to tune into the world around you and experience a #NatureBoost. We'd love it if you could share with us the uplifting aspects of local wildlife that you stumble upon along the way. |

A new #NatureDrawingClub theme is announced on the first Monday of each month. You can draw, paint or sculpt - anything that shows off your artistic side. No matter your experience, we want to see what you're creating. |
