Weekend travel information

If you are out and about this weekend, please note that there are planned works taking place on certain parts of the network.

Our TfL Go app can help you plan your journey and show you the quieter times. It provides travel statuses and information on how busy Tube stations are during the day as well as providing details of Covid-19 vaccination centres.

The quieter times currently are:
  • Between 08:15 and 16:00 and after 17:30 on weekdays
  • Before noon and after 18:00 on weekends
Customers must continue to wear a face covering on our services and in stations for the duration of their journey unless they are exempt, and may be refused entry or asked to leave for not doing so. This includes the Tube, bus, tram, DLR, London Overground and TfL Rail networks, Dial-a-Ride services, the Emirates Air Line and the Woolwich ferry.

We also expect and recommend the continued use of face coverings in taxis and private hire vehicles by both drivers and passengers unless they are exempt.

We are very grateful to the overwhelming majority of customers who have been complying with this requirement.

Please keep washing or sanitising your hands to help everyone stay safe. You can find out more about what we are doing to keep our services clean.

Sunday 5 September

London Summer Run

Formerly known as the London Winter Run, the following closures will be in place for the event. The starting times are:
  • 02:30 Pall Mall East;
  • 04:30 Duncannon Street;
  • 04:45 Pall Mall and Strand;
  • 07:30 various closures in the City of London area;
  • 08:00 Kingsway, Fleet Street and Holborn with traffic of a suitable height still able to use the Strand Underpass, except between 08:50 and 12:20.
All closures are scheduled to be removed by 15:15, with the exception of Whitehall and Horse Guards Road, which will reopen at 17:15. Traffic is likely to be disrupted to the south of the river, as far north as the A501 Marylebone Road, to the London area in the east, and to the Victoria area in the west.

Wembley Stadium

A match between England vs Andorra will be taking place from 15:00 to 20:00. Kick off is at 17:00. Roads will be closed around the stadium for taxis, and to allow for pedestrian entrance and exit. Expect delays in the area.

Stratford High Street weight restrictions

A 7.5-ton weight restriction is being introduced on Stratford High Street as Thames Water begins a vital upgrade of the 160-year-old sewer Northern Outfall Sewer, which passes under the road along the line of the Greenway. At the western end of the high street, a temporary 7ft width restriction at the start of the eastbound Bow flyover means vehicles over 7.5t need to divert at Bow roundabout and on to the diversion route via the A12.

The temporary limits came into force on Tuesday 10 August. The 7.5 tonne weight limit, along with a new temporary 20mph speed limit, will be enforced by traffic cameras, and will be in place for up to 30 months. You can find full details of the diversion on One.Network.
