The Semi-State Rooms at Windsor Castle are the private apartments created for George IV. The rooms are among the most richly decorated interiors in the Castle and are used by The Queen for official entertaining. These rooms reopen to visitors in late September until spring.

In 1958 The Queen announced that Prince Charles was to be created The Prince of Wales. This photograph shows the 9-year-old Prince wearing his school uniform and returning to Cheam preparatory school, the day after the announcement was made.
In 1843 Queen Victoria travelled abroad for the first time - she and Prince Albert visited Louis-Philippe, King of the French in Normandy. Louis-Philippe later presented the Queen with a souvenir album containing watercolours recording moments from the visit .
