Discover the long history of Bankside beginning over 6000 years ago and continuing right through to today.
Bankside's history is more intense than that of the City of London on the other side of the river. A heavy prehistoric presence is followed by the Romans and all periods through to today. it was the red-light district in the Tudor period and on the foreshore, evidence can be discovered of the money pots used in the many theatres found in the area. See what people ate and drank, what jobs they undertook, what items they had in their houses as well as their bad habits!
Come for a morning stroll with Dr Fiona Haughey and explore the varied life on the southern bank of the Thames through all ages - all to be found beneath your feet on the Bankside foreshore.
