Tuesday 4 October Barbican Hall
The BBC Symphony Orchestra joins forces with Shakespeare's Globe, interspersing music with drama in Antony and Cleopatra, Florent Schmitt's sensual and expressive setting of Shakespeare's play.
Florent Schmitt's 1920 sumptuous and atmospheric incidental music to Antony and Cleopatra was created for André Gide's adaptation of Shakespeare's play about palace intrigue, love, scandal and death. The BBC Symphony Orchestra and Chief Conductor Sakari Oramo join forces with Shakespeare's Globe for a very special evening devised by Globe Music Director Bill Barclay, directed by Iqbal Khan and featuring actors from the Globe.
Join us at the Barbican for an opportunity to experience this highly perfumed and rarely performed work in its dramatic context.
