Nature Trail Activity Walk
Saturday 8 October, 1.45-3.30pm
Discover what lives on our Nature Trail in the autumn in this family friendly activity walk. Have a go at sweep-netting, tree-beating, identifying species and more. Suitable for families with children aged 5+.

Magic Late
Thursday 13 October, 6.30-9.30pm
Join us for an evening of sorcery, folklore and mystery throughout the Museum. Encounter magical films, dance and music, take a candlelit tour, and discover the power of wands. You can also marvel at the Horniman’s collection of English charms – and bring along your own lucky charms to help us curate a new display. Food and bars open.

World Mental Health Day
Saturday 15 October, 11am–3.30pm
World Mental Heath Day (10 October) aims to raise awareness of mental health issues. Come along to this family day and enjoy activities around the Museum to learn more about wellbeing. Organised by local mental health community groups who work in partnership with the Horniman. Find out more.

October Half Term
Monday 24 to Friday 28 October
Be entertained at the Horniman this half term. Make your own fossil cast, get crafty in our art sessions, enjoy our Big Wednesday: Dinosaurs!day with dinosaur art, stories, animations and an interactive ‘Dino-Land’ experience, and handle museum objects in the Hands on Base.

Don’t miss your last chance to visit our family friendly exhibition ‘Dinosaurs: Monster Families’ which closes on 30 October.

Horniman Halloween Fair
Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 October
10.30am–4.30pm

Enjoy fiendish fun at our annual Halloween Fair. Help a mummy reach the afterlife in ‘Curse of the Mummy’, an interactive storytelling adventure. Go on a spooky trail around the Gardens, meet critters such as a scorpion in the Creepy Creatures Cave and discover unique gifts in the Arts and Crafts market. Find out more.

Memorial. A Tribute to Taxidermy 
Opens Saturday 22 October
Ethical taxidermist Jazmine Miles-Long challenges ideas and perceptions of the art and craft of taxidermy. Inspired by pieces selected from the Horniman's historic collection, Jazmine has produced beautiful works that explore the journey from the taxidermist to museum. Find out more.
