A baby gorilla from a critically-endangered gorilla species has been born at London Zoo.
Fifteen-year-old Western lowland gorilla Mjukuu gave birth early on Wednesday morning.
The infant is the first offspring of the Zoo's silverback male Kumbuka, who arrived in May 2013 from Paignton Zoo.
Keeper Daniel Simmonds said both mother and baby were doing well, and that Mjukuu gave birth surrounded by the rest of troop "who were intrigued".
"Western-lowland gorillas are critically endangered in the wild, so this infant is a really important addition not only to the Zoo, but for the European conservation breeding programme," he added. BBC News
